We obtain hope through God’s word/Nou jwenn espwa nan pawòl Bondye

True hope is supposed to guard our hearts in times of hardship. How can our hearts stay pure and wait for deliverance when life does not give us reasons? Psalms 119:81 encourages us to find lasting hope in God’s eternal word. When we build our Confidence in God’s word, we have remedies for all life’s troubles. When we gain hope through God’s word, we discover hope in the total sense. The heart knows hope when it sees it. Nothing in the whole universe can satisfy a fainted heart, though there are things that can inspire a short-lived hope in this…

Meet Mirlovena

Mirlovena Dorvil was born on September 12, 2007, in Lagrange, north of St Marc. Mirlovna first stuck her tongue out like a little snake when she was born, as her mother recounted the story. Her mother, Joasline, attends our church, and her father is a non-believer. Both of her parents are farmers and are in their late 30s. When asked who is her role model, “The most influential person in my life is my best friend, chadaïna,” said Mirlovena. She now attends school in the city, but her favorite time of the year is the summer when she gets to…

We obtain Hope through God’s grace

We need hope from day to day. It is what keeps our lives in order. Paul reminds us in 2 Thessalonians 2:16 that we can obtain "eternal encouragement and good hope" through God's grace. We can be confident he will give us hope because he loves us. It is "good hope" because it is not like superficial hope that comes and goes. It cannot be lost as long we remain in God's love. This hope is alternately described as eternal encouragement. This is the type of encouragement we have in times of adversity. I have that hope because even when…

Only through trusting God can we find hope for the future/Se sèlman lè nou fè Bondye konfyans nou ka jwenn espwa pou lavni.

Paul prays for us by saying, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13). God is the God of hope. He is the source of hope, meaning he gives perfect hope. Hope allows us to look at the future with confidence that things will work in our favor. And it should be because God can accomplish anything. He plans a perfect future for us. It is with such confidence we can have hope and peace.…

Meet Diueloveson Saint Louis

It's good to be back in the State.  I have been gone for a few weeks, and two of those weeks, I was in Haiti.  It was good to be there and reconnect with everyone.  I had the opportunity to reconnect with Diueloveson, whose older brother was one of the originals(the first seven students I connected with) before his passing due to a tragic accident seven years ago.  We wanted to continue supporting the family after his passing, so we added Diueloveson to our students.  Diueloveson was one of the children who followed me everywhere I went in the village. …

Our hope is in the mercy of God/Espwa nou se nan mizèrekòd Bondye

Like the magnificent Niagara Falls, the mercy of God overflows freely and continually for us.” Psalm 33:18 says, But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love. The whole Psalms is about praise, as we see the psalmist rejoicing by singing about God’s sovereignty and confidence in God. He invited us to put our hope in God’s unfailing love. He wants us to know that God’s eyes are on us who fear him and place our hope in his unfailing love. He is sovereign and omnipresent. Yes, God…

Our hope is in the promises of God/Espwa nou se nan pwomès Bondye yo

What promises of God guide your life? For apostle Paul, it is “in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time“ Titus 1:2. While salvation is our ultimate motivation from day to day, we also have immediate promise here and now that feeds our hope concerning our ultimate salvation. We need to hear God’s words daily to find those promises. When we face difficult questions and circumstances in our daily lives, we should look for God’s promises in his word. God does not lie, nor can he lie. We can take…

We are in grieving for Nehemi Dastino

Life is a fleeting moment, but the Bible calls us to live it in light of eternity. Sometimes, we ask why someone so young has to die, not because we know we will receive a reason. We ask why because it is the only word that summarizes our laments.  Nehemi went to be with the Lord on Wednesday. Nehemi was born in Lagrange, Haiti. She was only 23 years old. She is also my niece. Her mother, Ennèse Saint Louis, passed away when she was only nine years old. My parents raised her, and by the time she was 19…
